Florida Judge wins $291 Million Powerball Jackpot and Brother Wins $7

James Stocklas, a retired judge, claimed his $291 Million prize this week, while his brother Bob Stocklas claimed $7 from the same drawing.  Talk about sibling rivalry!

James Stocklas played the Million Dollar Powerball lottery during a vacation to Florida.  Upon returning, he checked his ticket over breakfast at a diner in Pennsylvania. He was shocked at the win and purchased breakfast for the entire diner!

The judge bought the ticket with two other people and immediately took a private jet to Florida to claim the winnings.  Each person who participated in the purchase will receive $40 Million after taxes.

James Stocklas retired as a judge several years ago, but continues filling in at court. He says he’ll return to the bench next month.

Congratulations on your big win, James!  We hope you will be sharing some of the wealth with your brother.

Harriet Tubman Replacing Andrew Jackson on the $20 Bill

It’s official!  After much debate about adding a woman’s face to U.S. currency, an official decision by the U.S. Department of Treasury has been made.   Harriet Tubman will replace Andrew Jackson as the new face of the $20 Bill.

Andrew Jackson was the 7th president of the United States and is seen by some as a war hero for defeating the British in New Orleans during the war of 1812.

Harriet Tubman was born a slave in 1885 and became well-known for her efforts leading the Underground Railroad to bring many slaves to freedom.  She will be the first African American, as well as the first woman, featured on U.S. currency.

Two $1 million scratch-off lottery winners at Jersey City store

The Luckiest Convenience Store in Jersey City has a New $100,000 Scratch-off Winner

A convenience store in Jersey City may be the luckiest shop in town!  To date the store has had 7 big winners.  In the past 2 years, M-S Grocery Inc. Convenience store has had two $1 Million “scratch-off” winners and a $100,000 scratch-off winner this April.

Osama Swati, an employee at the 733 Montgomery Street store, says they have always had big winners since his father Mohammad Khan opened the store in 1988.

This month’s $100,000 winner purchased 2 tickets for the “100x The Cash” scratch-off.  The winner, also a regular customer, notified M-S Grocery of the big win the very next day.  He said he was so excited about his win that he couldn’t sleep.

The lucky shop is very popular!  Although there was an increase in ticket sales after the $100,000 winner, Swati confirmed that the store is always crowded by hopeful players.  People do it before work and some rush over during lunch breaks. Swati marveled, “You can’t even step in the door, that’s how many people are coming to scratch.”

Swati adds that it’s a pleasure to have so many local winners because they’re all hard working individuals who deserve to win.

$6 Million California Scratch-off Winner is “Set for Life!”

A lucky man in San Francisco, California is set for life after winning $6 Million on the “Set for Life” scratch-off.  Eugene Ruiz purchased the winning ticket at a local 7-Eleven.  Officials say he was very secretive about what he would do with his winnings and has yet to inform them about how he will receive his prize.

Ruiz has the option of receiving an upfront lump sum of $3.4 Million or $20,000 a month for 25 years, totaling $6 Million.

This 7-Eleven, located at 1010 Hillside Boulevard, will also be receiving $30,000 for selling the winning ticket.

$3 Million Scratch-off Winner in Pennsylvania!

A man from Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania won $3 Million when he purchased the Triple Million scratch-off at the Country Gas and Convenient Store Station.

The store’s manager, Sue Sharma, says sales keep climbing since the lucky win as other players hope the good luck will rub-off on them.  Pennsylvania Lottery officials say the man bought a $30 Triple Million ticket and got very, very lucky. Although, luck may have been on his side, this is not the first time the station has seen a big winner. In 2010, there was another lucky $1 Million scratch-off winner.

There is no word on how the lucky winner plans on spending his winnings, but we wish him the best!

Ohio Lottery Best Numbers To Play

Use past Ohio Lottery winning numbers to help you win Ohio-only games.

While the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots get all the attention because of the incredibly large payouts, lost in all the media hysteria are the state lottery games.

In Ohio, for example, you can win millions playing Ohio-only games like Rolling Cash 5, Classic Lotto, Pick 3, Pick 4, and Pick 5.

Each game offers you the chance to win a range of cash prizes, and you can win decent amounts by matching just a few numbers.

If you play Ohio Classic Lotto, you can win a jackpot that reaches more than $5 million. And if you add the KICKER™ feature to your Classic Lotto ticket for an extra $1, you have the chance to win up to an additional $100,000!

Rolling Cash 5 is another Ohio-only jackpot game where players select five numbers from 1 to 39. Jackpots start at $100,000 and roll until a winner is drawn. If there is no 5 of 5 winner, the jackpot increases for the next drawing based on sales or a minimum of $10,000, whichever is greater. Drawings are held every day at 8:00 PM.

The key to winning cash for any lottery is of course picking the winning numbers. Many people use special dates, like birthdays and anniversaries, while others select the uniform numbers of their favorite sports figures. And many other lottery players go with their “gut” or numbers that just feel right.

What if you knew which numbers were most commonly drawn for your favorite games? Would that alter the numbers you’d pick?
If you play Powerball, would you change your picks if you knew that 32 and 41 have appeared 193 times, or just over 10% of the time, which makes them the most commonly drawn numbers in Powerball history? Or what about the fact that in order to win the big Powerball jackpot, you must also guess the “powerball” in addition to all five regular numbers, and the most commonly drawn powerball number is 20, which has appeared 63 times (or 3%).

Would knowing that kind of percentages change how you play the Ohio Lottery games? If so, here are the numbers you need:

How to win the Ohio Classic Lotto

In the last 1000 draws, 14 is the luckiest number. It’s been drawn 148 times (14.8% of the time). The numbers 26 (14%) and 4 (13.6%) are the next two lucky numbers. Cold or unlucky numbers are 3 and 39. Both have been part of the winning combinations less than 11% of the time.

How to win the Rolling Cash 5 Lottery

In the last 1000 draws, 11 is the luckiest number, being part of the winning number 15% of the time. 20, 28 and 29 are the next lucky numbers. Each has been drawn at least 14%. The coldest or most unlucky numbers are 14 and 22. It’s chosen less than 10% of the time.

How to win the Ohio Pick 5 Midday and Pick 5 Evening

If you play the Pick 5 Midday (Ohio), you choose between 0 and 9, in any combination, and can win cash prizes a number of different ways, like a straight or a five-way box (occurs when 4 of one numbers and a different number – like 1, 1, 1, 1, 2 – are drawn).
