CA Lottery Best Numbers To Play

Use past California Lottery winning numbers to help you win California-only games.

While the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots get all the attention because of the incredibly large payouts, lost in all the media hysteria are the state lottery games.

In California, for example, you can win millions playing California-only games like SuperLotto Plus, Fantasy 5, Daily 4, Daily 3, Daily Derby, and Hotspot.

Each game offers you the chance to win a range of cash prizes, and you can win decent amounts by matching just a few numbers.

If you play SuperLotto Plus, for example, there are 9 ways to win cash with a jackpot starting at $7 million, which can easily reach $30 million or more. To play, choose five lucky numbers from 1 to 47 and one MEGA number from 1 to 27. You win a prize if you match just the MEGA number or win big by matching all 5 numbers plus the MEGA number. Drawings are held every week.

Fantasy 5 is another California-only jackpot game with a jackpot of $175,000. Similar to the other games, to win you have to match all 5 numbers with each number being between 1-39. However, you can also win cash prizes for matching only three numbers. The Fantasy 5 draw occurs every day right after draw entry closes at 6:30 p.m.

The key to winning cash for any lottery is of course picking the winning numbers. Many people use special dates, like birthdays and anniversaries, while others select the uniform numbers of their favorite sports figures. And many other lottery players go with their “gut” or numbers that just feel right.

What if you knew which numbers were most commonly drawn for your favorite games? Would that alter the numbers you’d pick?
If you play Powerball, would you change your picks if you knew that 32 and 41 have appeared 193 times, or just over 10% of the time, which makes them the most commonly drawn numbers in Powerball history? Or what about the fact that in order to win the big Powerball jackpot, you must also guess the “powerball” in addition to all five regular numbers, and the most commonly drawn powerball number is 20, which has appeared 63 times (or 3%).

Would knowing that kind of percentages change how you play the California Lottery games? If so, here are the numbers you need:

SuperLotto Plus

In the last 1000 draws, 15 is the luckiest number. It’s been drawn 137 times (13.7% of the time). The numbers 25 (13.0%) and 33 (12.9%) are the next two lucky numbers. Cold or unlucky numbers are 3 and 28. Both have been part of the winning combinations less than 8.5% of the time.

California Fantasy 5

If you play the Fantasy 5, you select 5 numbers between 1-39. You can win something even if you only match 3 numbers ($3) – but, hey, that’s still better than losing. In the last 1000 draws, the winningest numbers rank as follows:

34 drawn 14.9%
14 drawn 14.5%
10 drawn 14.4%
27 drawn 14.1%
39 drawn 14.1%
38 drawn 14.0%

The most unlucky numbers are:

31 drawn 11.5%
21 drawn 10.8%
25 drawn 9.8%

$6 Million California Scratch-off Winner is “Set for Life!”

A lucky man in San Francisco, California is set for life after winning $6 Million on the “Set for Life” scratch-off.  Eugene Ruiz purchased the winning ticket at a local 7-Eleven.  Officials say he was very secretive about what he would do with his winnings and has yet to inform them about how he will receive his prize.

Ruiz has the option of receiving an upfront lump sum of $3.4 Million or $20,000 a month for 25 years, totaling $6 Million.

Twin Sisters in California Split $6 Million Lottery Prize

Fraternal twins Lauren Poorman and Lisa Toton from San Ramon California were the lucky $6 Million scratch off ticket winners.  The sisters, who are now in their early 40s, say they’ve been playing the lottery fairly regularly since they were 18 years old after their mother won $12,000.  On the day the winning ticket was purchased, Toton recalls seeing a yellow lady bug in her car.  She took the ladybug as a sign of luck and promptly purchased $20 worth of scratch-off lottery tickets. After scratching all of them in her car, Toton looked at the tickets and started screaming with excitement! She called her husband and texted her sister to come home. They celebrated with dinner and decided to receive their prize through monthly installments of $20,000.  Toton and her sister Poorman had a long standing rule that the sister to purchase the winning ticket would take 60 percent of the winnings and the other sister would receive 40 percent.  Toton told ABC news that she plans to purchase a vacation home while her sister plans to purchase a new home and pay for her daughter’s college education.

Congratulations to the sisters for their winnings!  We wish them happiness and success!

$27 Million CA Christmas Jackpot Still Unclaimed

The lucky winner of the December 26th California SuperLotto Plus drawing has yet to come forward and collect his or her $27-million-dollar prize. The mystery winner will have the option of a $16.8-million-dollar lump sum payout or $27 million-dollars paid out over the course of 30 years. While it’s not unusual for a winner of this magnitude to take some time before coming forward, lottery officials and experts advise a “sooner the better” strategy to ensure the owner doesn’t lose or misplace the precious ticket. While everyone waits for the mystery lotto winner to be revealed, the Hermosa Beach deli responsible for selling the ticket can still collect it’s $135,000 bonus. Paul Mance, owner of Mickey’s Deli, puts his unexpected win in perspective, “We’re very excited the lottery was won here, but our main concern is to run a good deli and take care of our customers.” We can’t wait to follow-up when the winner is announced, and to any of our California FreeLotto players reading this: Check your tickets!

Mom becomes millionaire on way to work via CA Lottery

California resident Jennifer Daniel had to go to work. She also had to go, go. As in go to the bathroom. So she made a pit stop at a CVS convenient store in Modesto.

As she was leaving, the California Lottery Ultimate Riches Scratchers machine caught her eye. For fun, the young mother fed in a $20 bill, took the ticket, scratched off the barcode and scanned it.

It was the best decision she ever made.

The lottery ticket was worth $5 million.

“I was very calm,” she said. “I was just smiling, no screaming or anything like that.”

Ms. Daniel said her thoughts went first to her family.

“My number one thing is to pay off my parents’ house and pay off their car so my mom can retire,” she told CA Lottery officials. “And then I want to pay off my own house and put some money aside for my son’s school.”

The best part of winning is that she no longer has to work 6 days a week, plus overtime to make ends meet. Now she can spend more time with her son.

“I can just work eight hours a day and enjoy my days and spend time with my son,” she said.

State lottery sales plummet 30% in early 2015

Are you suffering from jackpot fatigue?

If you are, you’re not alone.

Ticket sales for Mega Millions and Powerball games were down 30% for the first quarter, 2015.

Imagine what that’s doing to state budgets!?!

States are responding to falling lottery ticket sales by pumping up the jackpot amounts in hopes of luring back the casual player who buys lotto tickets only when the prize becomes enormous.

An interesting catch is that when fewer people play, it becomes hard to reach the ginormous prizes, for example going from $100 million to $300 million

People once impressed with a $100 million payout shrug until it reaches $300 million. Then fewer people play, so it takes longer to get to staggering prizes.

What are people playing? FreeLotto. More and more gamers are flocking to FreeLotto – the world’s largest online lottery style sweepstakes – because they realize it’s free, easy to play, and the odds are similar to state lotteries.

Check it out for yourself. Play right now.

Man wins $1 Million on CA Lottery Scratcher ticket and “was like, cool, I won.”

California Lottery officials announced today that Israel Martinez Sotero from East Bay won $1 million on an Emerald 10’s Scratchers ticket that he purchased at Super Liquor & Food at 1511 Monument Blvd. in Concord.

We don’t have a picture of Mr. Sotero holding a big check because he declined to have his photo taken for publicity. He also decided against speaking to the media. Even me!

CA Lottery officials did provide a quote from the new millionaire about his reaction to winning:

“I went back to the car and I just went home,” he said. “It wasn’t much excitement. I was like, cool, I won.”

It can’t be confirmed, but I’m going to bet he threw in a “dude” a couple of times as well somewhere.

Mr. Sotero said he plans to save most, if not all of his winnings.

How cool, dude, would it be to win $1 million? Try right now. Play FreeLotto. The odds are similar to California Lottery games and you can play right now.

California couple tries different approach to cash in CA Lottery tickets

California authorities say two men and a woman are believed to be involved in a number of armed robberies in Los Angeles county. In the last robbery, several lottery tickets were taken.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said one of the men and the woman later tried to cash some of the stolen lottery tickets at liquor stores in Victorville and Hesperia.

Police are asking for the public’s help to find lottery-ticket stealing couple.

One of the robbers was described as a white man in his mid-20s, 5-foot-11 to 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds. He wore a gray hooded sweatshirt, white T-shirt, blue jeans, black shoes, black ski mask with red trim, black baseball-style gloves and a black backpack.

The police were trying to think of a more generic description, but couldn’t come up with anything.

California Lottery winner checked for pulse after scratching $5 million winning ticket

CA Lottery officials describe winner as “calm man, both in the face of adversity and excitement.”

After nearly 30 years of buying lottery scratchers, Doug Gary bought a big winner in Visalia, California, worth $5 million.

California Lottery officials announced Gary’s win Thursday. The Million $$ Match Scratchers ticket was purchased for $20 at Rozi’s Market, 831 Lovers Lane. The store owner will receive a $25,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

In the news release announcing the win, Gary was described as a “calm man, both in the face of adversity and excitement.”

After scratching his winning ticket while doing some yard work, he reportedly walked calmly into the house to show his wife, who failed to remain as serene as her husband.

Gary said he won $1,000 a few times playing the lottery, but “nothing like this.” He said he plays every draw game but his favorite are the $20 scratchers.

Lottery officials added, “Now he has reason to love them even more, 5 million reasons, in fact.”

Million $$ Match Scratchers offer players 29 chances to win and more than $340 million in total prizes. Tickets can be purchased from more than 21,000 California Lottery retailers, or one of the more than 4,000 Lottery Lucky Retailers.

Man wins CA Lottery Scratchers jackpot 2 times in 2 months

A Berkeley man can consider himself lucky after winning a prize from a California Lottery Scratchers ticket for the second time in two months.

When Robert Dos Santos won $1,000 a couple months back by playing a $20 “Million $$ Match” Scratchers ticket, he didn’t stop playing the lottery, lottery officials said.

On Friday, he discovered he had bought another winning ticket, this time with a $5 million prize, lottery officials said.

Dos Santos told lottery officials he still isn’t sure what he is going to do with the multimillion dollar prize. He also said he plans on continuing to play more Scratchers tickets.

The store where he purchased his ticket, a 7-Eleven located at 1501 University Ave. in Berkeley, will also be awarded $25,000 for selling the winning ticket, lottery officials said.

You don’t have to drive to a 7-Eleven to play the lottery. Play for free right here. Right now. The odds of winning are similar. You’ll have fun. And you could win millions. And you don’t have to leave your couch.
